Calculate Your Homestead Exemption
On the November 8, 2022 ballot, Doraville voters will be asked to vote yes or no on a new homestead exemption which in most cases will lower property taxes incurred by homeowners in the city. The city currently mirrors DeKalb County’s homestead exemption, which has a value of $25,000, but residents will get to choose whether they would rather have the city create its own homestead exemption for $10,000 plus the value of a 2.5-mil reduction. Property taxes are charged based on a “millage rate,” which is the amount per $1,000 of property value that is used to calculate taxes. You can enter the value of your home below to see how much your city taxes could potentially change by voting YES on this ballot question.
